Political parties face 2 decisive countdown weeks

Finally, the official campaign began. Thursday at 23.59 all the parties were at the departure line. All polls point at a political change and the Centre-Right Catalan Nationalist Coalition Convergència i Unió (CiU) will probably take power. The Catalan Socialist Party (PSC) tries to avoid what the polls indicate as its worst result. The other parties fight to keep or get the third party status or their number of seats.

Catalan election campaign kicks off at midnight

On Sunday the 28th of November, Catalans will elect their new Parliament, which will then elect the new Catalan Government for the next 4-year term. These elections are very likely to change the Catalan political landscape, becoming a barometer of support for the Socialist party in Catalonia. The elections may have consequences for all of Spain. All the polls point to the main opposition force, the Centre-Right Catalan Nationalist Coalition Convergència i Unió (CiU), as just below the absolute majority.

Catalan Government may extend bond amount to 3,000 million euros

Various banks and savings banks are asking the Catalan Government to extend the total bond amount to 3,000 million euros. The Catalan Ministry of Economy will make the decision whether or not to extend the amount on Friday. The Catalan Government's debt bonds were issued for an initial amount of 1,890 million euros and further extended to 2,500 million euros due to their massive purchase by Catalan citizens

Unemployment drops for second consecutive term in Catalonia

The 3rd term (July-September) ended with less people unemployed in Catalonia, concretely 6,700 people less. The unemployment rate has decreased 3 decimals and is now 17.41% of the active population. In addition, Catalonia represents half of all the new jobs created in Spain this term, with 34,500 jobs created. It is the first time in the last year that unemployment has dropped for the whole of Spain.
