The fashion label Desigual based in Barcelona has obtained a €200 million line of credit from different banks. This financial support will be used to finance international expansion as well as plans for a new logistical centre in Vilamoura (Barcelona). Leading this investment is the Catalan bank CaixaBank, mostly owned by La Caixa. Under the slogan “Desigual – It’s not the same” the label wants to focus on continual improvements, innovation, engagement, tolerance, positivism and fun. Within this slogan now Desigual is trying to attain a more international status, enlarging its current team of 2,900 people from 72 different nationalities.

From the 28th to the 31st of January, Barcelona became the capital of the fashion world as the eleventh edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion took place in the brand new DHUB building, the city’s new museum and professional centre for design. For four days, companies, independent designers and young fashion promises met on the Barcelonan catwalk.

The Brandery is an urban fashion trade show which holds two editions every year, one in summer and the other in winter. The Brandery winter edition was held from the 27th through to the 29th of January 2012 at the Montjuïc fair trade complex.

Barcelona’s independent fashion fair kicks off this week, running from Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th. The fall-winter 2012/2013 collections of prestigious brands and designers such as Desigual, Pierre Cardin or Mango will be presented in the centre of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter in the Plaça del Rei (King’s Square) and the Saló del Tinell, inside the former King’s Palace.

The 5th edition of the urban and contemporary fashion exhibition The Brandery takes place in Barcelona from the July 13th to the 15th in the Monjtuïc venue. The fashion fair has created a new space called ‘Brandtown a FashionXperience’ that will host concerts, fashion shows and exhibitions.

Custo Barcelona and Toni Francesc are on show this week in New York. Their latest fashion creations for the next Winter-Fall season are being modelled along side work from 100 designers from all over the world as part of the famous New York Fashion Week.
