The Fundació Joan Miró, located in the Catalan capital, unveils a temporary exhibition called “Explosion! The legacy of Jackson Pollock”, which shows the influence Pollock’s works had on later artists. The temporary exhibition is made up of 70 works from 35 different artists, such as Andy Warhol, Lynda Benglis, Shozo Simamoto, Yoko Ono and Jackson Pollock himself. The exhibition is co-produced by Barcelona’s Miró Foundation and the Moderna Museet from Stockholm. It will run until 24th February 2013.

The Suñol Foundation celebrates its fifth anniversary with a new exhibition of 100 works from its collection, 30 of which have never been seen before. The exhibition combines works from Catalan artists such as Joan Miró, Jaume Plensa, Antoni Tàpies and Salvador Dalí, with others by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Man Ray and Alighiero Boetti, among others.

The owner of one of the world’s largest art collections, unveiled the exhibition named ‘Rusiñol, Monet, Gauguin, Sunyer. Landscapes in Carmen Thyssen’s Collection’ at Girona’s CaixaForum. The exhibition shows 51 paintings by these masters as well as Joan Miró, Joaquim Mir, Antoni Tàpies, Modest Cuixart, Théodore Rousseau, Georges Braque and Henri Matisse. The exhibition aims to set a “dialogue”, and show the evolution of the Catalan and European landscape paintings. Carmen Thyssen stated her relationship with Catalonia’s National Museum of Art (MNAC) is “excellent” and “it would be a dream” to have her collection in Barcelona, although “it is still early” to make an official announcement.

The work of ceramist Josep Llorens Artigas is displayed in many museums around the world, such as New York’s Metropolitan. Now, a retrospective exhibition of Artigas is on show until September 2nd in La Pedrera, one of Gaudí's most emblematic buildings in Barcelona. The exhibition has over 150 works by the Catalan artist. This display is titled 'L'home del Foc' (The Fire Man).

Until June 3rd, the Joan Miró’s Foundation displays almost 200 photos that show Joaquim Gomis’ particular universe. Gomis innovated in the way of taking photos, which were more surrealist, and the places he photographed: cities, skyscrapers and industrial landscapes were his favorite subjects.

The Catalan artist’s work is yet again the main attraction of a major UK exhibition. After the success of the painting retrospective at Tate Modern in 2011, Yorkshire Sculpture Park will stage the first major exhibition of Miró’s sculptures in the country in the spring. Also, some of the most exquisite work of the artist will be on sale next week in Christie’s and Sotheby’s, with record prices expected.

‘Joan Miró: The Ladder of Escape’ was on show at London’s Tate Modern until September, being one of the must-see exhibitions of the year. Now it arrives at the Fundació Miró in Barcelona. It is the most complete exhibition on one of the most universal Catalan artists of all time, with 170 works on display from public and private collections from all over the world. The exhibition has the double objective of rediscovering Miró’s work and showing his commitment in the era he lived in. Another exhibition on Miró’s posters will run in parallel, focussing on his involvement in Catalan cultural, political and civic initiatives.

The surrealist Catalan painter Joan Miró will have a museum in the country house he spent parts of his childhood and youth, in Mont-Roig del Camp, next to Tarragona. The family, experts and Barcelona’s Miró Foundation will decide on the exact contents, which will be displayed via permanent and temporary exhibitions.

An exhibition devoted to Miró’s work opens on Thursday in London. It is the first time in 50 years that a large number of paintings by the Catalan artist are displayed in the United Kingdom.

The cultural facility is thought to be an adaptable building, a library of the 21st century. The project comes with more than 13 years of delay and it is the first ever Spanish Government-funded library in Barcelona.

New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is currently hosting an exhibition that juxtaposes Catalan artist Joan Miró’s work with Dutch Golden Era paintings that he was inspired by.

The travelling exhibition will start in London in April 2011 and will carry on in Barcelona and Washington D.C. It will discover the cultural origins of the famous artist, being the greatest exhibition on Miró in the UK.
