Barcelona Metro offers minimum service during Monday strike
The Barcelona Metro is on strike today, Monday, which means that service is reduced to a minimum between 7 and 9 am, 4 and 6 pm, and from 8:30 to 10:30 pm. The Barcelona Metro strike began this morning after the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement between the unions and the Metro board. The first visible signs of the conflict were the crowds on the metro platforms and in the metro trains, which increased from 7 o’clock on. The strike had previously been announced and the passengers who had heard about it had advanced their travel schedule to prevent delays.
Barcelona (CNA).- The Barcelona Metro is on strike today, Monday, which means that service is reduced to a minimum between 7 and 9 am, 4 and 6 pm, and from 8:30 to 10:30 pm. The Barcelona Metro strike began this morning after the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement between the unions and the Metro board. The first visible signs of the conflict were the crowdson the metro platforms and in the metro trains, which increased from 7 o’clock on. The strike had previously been announced and the passengers who had heard about it had advanced their travel schedule to prevent delays.
The minimum service of 40% on Monday morning was completed normally and without any remarkable incidents and it is expected to continue this way. However, since the strike is planned for the indicated time slots, Metro traffic may be affected outside these schedules as well due to the removal or addition of other trains.
TMB expects the wait time for the metro trains to be between 10 and 13 minutes in the conventional lines (L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5) and between 14 and 22 minutes in the automatic lines (L9 South, L9 North, L10 and L11) in the time slot from 4 to 6 pm.
On the other hand, at night from 8:30 to 10:00 pm the Metro service will be at 20% of capacity. The wait time for lines L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5 will be about 18-26 minutes, and for the lines L9 South, L9 North, L10 and L11 14-33 minutes. Between 10 and 10:30 PM the frequency will drop to 32-44 minutes for lines L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5.
The Catalan Minister in charge of transport, Josep Rull, is certain that the conflict with Barcelona’s Metro will be solved as quickly as possible.
