Tom Hanks comes to Barcelona to present Toy Story 4
Latest film will hit cinemas on Friday in both Spanish and Catalan
US actor Tom Hanks, who performs Woody’s voice, was in Barcelona on Wednesday to present the latest installment of the Toy Story saga. Also present were director Josh Cooley and producers Jonas Rivera and Mark Nielsen.
Toy Story 4, which premieres 24 years after the first Toy Story film came out, will hit Spain’s cinemas on Friday and has been dubbed into both Spanish and Catalan.
Of the Pixar film’s relevance, Hanks described it as "a miracle" that the movie was able to provide catharsis, highlighting its ability to reflect real life and deal with important themes in not only in a lighthearted manner.
Hanks also explained that he only agreed to participate in the film because he believed it was going to be more than just “good,” even though he did admit that he had initially been skeptical about doing so since he worried it would be hard to produce something as good as or better than the previous installments.
To this effect, Cooley also mentioned that when he was asked to direct the movie, he felt an enormous sense of pressure to live up to the first three.
When asked if there was going to be a fifth Toy Story, Rivera said they had no plans to make one, but Hanks reminded him that there hadn’t been plans to make a fourth one either.
