Tibidabo theme park to open new drop tower at the end of May

The long-awaited new addition to the Tibidabo theme park, located in Collserola hills above Barcelona, has been given its new name.

The new freefall drop tower will be called Merlí and will be operational at the end of May.

Assembly of the new rise was completed this week and visitors can already see this new element in the Barcelona skyline.

The name of the drop tower comes from a competition held between the workers of BSM, the managing company of the Tibidabo amusement park, and is inspired by the theme and design of the attraction, which simulates a magic wand topped with a star.

The ride will stretch 52 meters in height and lift visitors 500 meters above sea level, offering unparalleled 360º views of Barcelona before experiencing the exhilarating drop.

Merlí will be one of Tibidabo's main attractions in 2024, a year when more than 700,000 are expected to visit the theme park.

New season, new features 

As well as Merlí, the amusement park opened the new season on March 2 with plenty of new features, such as the new CreaTibi by Lego Education space, offering children the chance to experiment with robotics and science, in an attraction inspired by the arrival of women on the moon.

Tibidabo has also renovated its viewpoints and the horror experience of the emblematic Hotel 666. In addition, there's also a newly opened Espai 666 (666 space), where visitors can meet and take pictures with the characters of the horror hotel. 

The Barcelona theme park also continues to work on its commitment to sustainability, solidarity, and education. In this context, Tibidabo continues to collaborate with Unicef in the defence of children's rights around the world, holds solidarity days in collaboration with entities such as Educo, Aprenem Autisme, and Fanoc, and also hosts various educational programming events.
