Bruce Springsteen, Bad Gyal, and Devo: In-Edit film festival takes over Barcelona
Around 60 music documentaries feature at event between October 23 and November 3
How does US singer Bruce Springsteen tour around the world? Or how is a Catalan artist now a global superstar? Barcelona's In-Edit film festival sheds light on musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Bad Gyal, and Devo, pioneers of electronic punk and the art of music video.
The music documentary festival kicks off on Wednesday at the Mooby Aribau cinema and will run until November 3, concluding with the premiere of Chris Smith's film on the band Devo.
There will be over 60 screenings throughout the festival, including the 'Bruce Springsteen Road Diary' film, which will be shown before its release on Disney+. Springsteen took his world tour to Barcelona twice, in 2023 and a second time in 2024.
Fans can also enjoy the 'La Joia: Bad Gyal,' a documentary by David Camarero, who has captured the Catalan singer Alba Farelo (better known as Bad Gyal) in her performances in cities like Barcelona, Miami, Santo Domingo, Las Vegas, Milan, and Paris.
In the film, Bad Gyal opens up about the pressures of social media and takes viewers behind the scenes of her music videos, fashion weeks, interviews, and marketing campaigns. Camarero followed the artist for three years, and the film features appearances by artists like Young Miko, Tokischa, Nicki Nicole, Myke Towers, Karol G, Anitta, Ozuna, and Ryan Castro.
Other notable films include 'Zoo: Sobreviure a l'incendi,' a documentary celebrating the Valencian band's 10th anniversary, and 'En la caliente – Tales of A Reggaeton Warrior,' which immerses viewers in the sociocultural, youthful, and clandestine reggaeton movement in Cuba, following the artist Kandyman.
Tickets are priced at €9 per film, with various packs available for multiple screenings. All tickets can be purchased on the In-Edit website.
