Cirque Du Soleil's iconic show Alegria returns to Barcelona
Acclaimed circus show captivated 14 million viewers worldwide
Cirque du Soleil, the world's largest producer of contemporary circus, is returning to Barcelona with its acclaimed show 'Alegria', following its previous successes in the city over a decade ago.
'Alegria' premiered globally 30 years ago and was shown in the Catalan capital in 1998, 2006 and 2012.
Since its 1994 debut, the acclaimed show has captivated more than 14 million viewers in 255 cities and 40 countries during its 19-year tour.
After a makeover to attract new audiences while maintaining the essence of the original production, 'Alegria' will premiere in Barcelona on March 21 and run for 80 performances until May 19.
For two magical hours, audiences will be treated to a thrilling experience filled with impossible stunts, dazzling costumes, adrenaline-pumping moments and unexpected surprises.
The breathtaking finale will feature a new aerial stunt with nine trapeze artists simultaneously performing gravity-defying stunts.
The new production, which premiered in Montreal in 2019, pays homage to the iconic scenes of the original version while introducing several innovations in all aspects of the performance, including stunts, music, set design and costumes.
With a team of 114 people from 26 countries, Cirque du Soleil invested a great deal of effort in creating this new version.
More than 20,000 hours were spent creating new costumes, while the musical theme was given modern arrangements that blend electronic, acoustic and orchestral elements.
Set against the backdrop of a timeless royal court, the show will transport audiences to a world of wonder and enchantment, bringing back the magic that made it such a hit in the past.
