99% of Covid-19 cases among children are either asymptomatic or mild, the preliminary results of a study carried out by Barcelona's Sant Joan de Déu hospital seem to indicate.

The hospital's 'Kids Corona' study looked at 724 children who lived with at least one parent or guardian who tested positive for coronavirus.

Of these kids, whose average age was around 5, 17.5% tested positive – slightly under the 18.9% of adults who tested positive after living with another positive adult.

Researchers found that over half of these Covid-19 positive children were either asymptomatic or had rather mild symptoms, and are now set to assess their ability to spread the disease to others in a new study that will look into kids at summer camp settings.
