Around one hundred people had the opportunity on Saturday to witness the first solar eclipse of the year from a privileged location: Montsec Astronomical Park, situated in the Montsec mountain range in western Catalonia.

Experts from the center were on hand to provide visitors with detailed explanations about this partial solar eclipse and other astronomical events.

Attendees were able to observe the partial eclipse with telescopes and special glasses for the occasion.

An observation point was also set up at Vall de Núria station in the Pyrenees.

The partial solar eclipse serves as a warm-up for the so-called 'Iberian Triplet,' three consecutive solar eclipses that will be visible in the Iberian peninsula in 2026, 2027, and 2028.

Parts of Catalonia, including the cities of Lleida and Tarragona will witness a total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026.
