Catalonia improves in global electric mobility indicators
8% growth in public charging stations in last quarter, up to 8,700
Catalonia has improved its global electric mobility indicators, rising above the Spanish national average in the second quarter.
Data published by employers' association Anfac shows that the number of public charging stations have increased by 8.3% compared to the previous quarter, up to 8,717 across the territory.
Overall, the indicator that assesses the use of electric vehicles and the installation of public access infrastructure has risen from 17.3 points out of 100 in March to 18 points in June.
In Spain it has risen to 15.1, mainly due to the improvement of infrastructure as new vehicle registrations have "stagnant."
Despite the improvements, the figures are far from the European average, which almost doubles that of Spain's rating, to 29.1 points.
In all of Spain, the number of public charging points have grown by 10% in the second quarter of this year, up to 35,698 - which is 3,276 points more than the previous quarter.
In Catalonia, of the 8,817 points, 2,152 have been found to be out of service.
Of the total, 5,811 are located in urban areas.
In a statement, the employers' association that published the data recalls that its priority is to "accelerate" the process of electrification and decarbonisation of cars.
