Camprodon launches tourist guide with artificial intelligence
Visitors can ask questions through WhatsApp and the program responds
Guest Assistant, a touristic guide using artificial intelligence (AI), offers personalized up-to-date information while visiting Camprodon, a village in Ripollès county.
Designed by companies New Ideas & Solutions and Tridenia, the program aims to "improve the experience" of everyone visiting the town. The guide has been launched this Easter in a test phase, and the goal is to implement it in other places from the summer.
Through WhatsApp, users can ask questions and the guide will answer in a previously chosen language. It also provides the town council's information on the profile of visitors and their preferences.
The touristic guide is designed to help those who can't find the information they need.
"There are many websites with information, but they are not presented in an accessible way. This guide is an engine capable of searching for the information you need, in the language you choose," explains Joan Corbella from New Ideas & Solutions.
Visitors need to scan a QR-code, fill in some information such as where they live and their phone number, and a WhatsApp chat will be opened.
"It answers everything that the visitor might want to know, from tourist, historical or heritage information. The system always answers "in a friendly way," details Corbella.
The program is currently available in Catalan, Spanish, English and French but is expected to expand and incorporate other languages in the future.
