The new Amazon Prime series 'Day One' recently announced the start of its production, with filming taking place across emblematic technological sites in Barcelona.

The new TV show is set to film in places such as the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (home to MareNostrum 5), the ALBA Synchrotron, the Talent Arena trade fair, the Collserola Tower, the University Pompeu Fabra, and the 22@ technological district.

'Day One' will focus on the life of Ulises Albet —interpreted by Spanish actor Álex González—, a computational prodigy who leaves Barcelona behind and the technological world after his sister committed suicide due to cyberbullying.

Spanish actors Alba Plana, Asier Etxeandía and Jordi Mollà are part of the cast. The show also features Mexican actress Renata Notni and Catalan actor Ivan Massagué.

'Day One' is set to be released as early as of 2026.

Mobile World Congress series

Simultaneously, organizers of the MWC mobile trade fair and managers of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona organization announced a new Amazon Prime show based on the "Catalan technological scene."

MWC, held annually in Barcelona, opened its doors on Monday.

According to Francisco Fajula, CEO of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, the show's goal is to “promote the technological scientific ecosystem of Catalonia, and reflect in the ethic use of technology."

Fajula said, in an interview with public news channel 3/24, that the TV show will promote the idea that "technology is not bad in general, instead is about how we use technology as a tool."

Amazon Prime's series will be available in more than 200 countries in eight different languages.

The plan is that the show is released before next year's MWC.
