Catalan public broadcaster TV3 is in negotiations to secure the broadcasting rights for the next five seasons of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

TV3 president Sígfrid Gras announced the broadcaster’s intentions during a parliamentary committee on Friday, emphasizing the opportunity to negotiate exclusive rights alongside other networks.

Rosa Romà, president of the Catalan Audiovisual Corporation (CCMA), told parliament members that major sporting events are "key" to reaching new audiences and promoting the Catalan language.

However, while the corporation was able to invest around €66 million in sports broadcasting in 2010, that budget has now been reduced to just €22 million. In the past, TV3 paid approximately €49 million for broadcasting rights, significantly more than the current €4 to €7 million.
