Thousands celebrate Morocco's World Cup victory over Spain across Catalonia
People fill streets and squares with chants and flares in cities such as Barcelona, Figueres, Vic, Manresa, Reus, and more
Thousands of fans took to the streets on Tuesday night to celebrate Morocco's victory over Spain in the World Cup.
The North African nation progressed to the quarter-finals, achieving their best-ever World Cup result, by eliminating Spain 3-0 on penalties following a 0-0 draw.
Streets and squares in Barcelona, Figueres, Mataró, Vic, Manresa, Reus, and other cities across Catalonia were filled with thousands of jubilant fans who chanted songs and lit flares.

In the Catalan capital, Plaça Catalunya and La Rambla were the central points of celebration, with traffic being cut as thousands spilled onto the streets. In Barcelona, the Mossos d'Esquadra police force had prepared a device similar to that used for high-profile football matches.
