The Circuit de Catalunya, working flat out on the ‘Formula One Test Days’
Throughout this week the Formula One Test Days have been held at the Montmeló racetrack, located in Greater Barcelona’s northern area. While all the teams try to optimize their performance capacity, Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has been the fastest driver this week. The Circuit has been a hive of activity thanks to other parallel activities of the event, such as guided tours. The Formula One Test Days at the Catalunya Circuit are back next week between the 28th February and 3rd March, just two weeks before the Formula One official season starts in Australia.
Montmeló (CNA).– Roaring engines and the unmistakable smell of burnt rubber welcomes visitors to the Catalunya Circuit. This racetrack, located in Montmeló, in Greater Barcelona’s northern area, has been hosting the Formula One Test Days since last Tuesday. All teams have taken advantage to push their cars to the limit before the official competition begins next month. The Formula One Test Days at the Catalunya Circuit are back next week between the 28th February and 3rd March.
Racing fans at the track could not ignore the spectacle of colour, noise, action and frenetic activity that surrounds the Formula 1 roadshow. Families, friends, children and tourists all visited the Catalunya Circuit to see their idols in action: Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Mark Webber (Red Bull), Jenson Button (McLaren) or Nico Rosberg (Mercedes). A diverse public but all fascinated by the world of Formula One.
Journalists from all over the world didn’t want to miss the event and although the media center was full, the atmosphere was obviously much more relaxed than during official competition. This relaxation in the media centre contrasted with the Formula One Test Days incessant parallel activities, such as private events, or guided tours to the media centre, the race control, the podium, the briefing room, the paddock and the service tracks.
Ferrari, the most visited
Although expectation surrounds all the teams, the excitement surrounding Ferrari is one step further as the public fought in the upper deck to view Alonso’s every pit-stop, to get close to the car and take the best photo.
