During the six laps around the Montjuïc circuit, Primož Roglič showed his superiority to claim his second Volta a Catalunya general classification victory, after his first in 2023.

The Slovenian launched an attack with three laps to go, 20 kilometers from the finish, gaining a slight advantage on the steepest part of the climb to the castle in the Catalan capital.

He continued to extend his lead until the finish line, crossing it with a 14-second advantage over Laurens De Plus (Ineos Grenadiers) and Lennert Van Eetvelt (Lotto), and 19 seconds ahead of Juan Ayuso, who was unable to respond to Roglič's attack.
