Ten different groups in opposition to Joan Laporta's FC Barcelona presidency have signed a joint letter calling for his immediate resignation.

They want the Barça president and his Board of Directors to step down over the financial and reputational damage caused by the Dani Olmo registration debacle.

Olmo, a big-money summer arrival from RB Leipzig, was de-registered as a Barça player by La Liga after the club failed to demonstrate adecuate resources in their accounts to be able to make the signing.

The Spain international had been allowed to play the first half of the season after La Liga allowed the club designate some salary cap space to new signings following the long-term injury to Andreas Christensen.

However, La Liga did not accept other presentations financial dealings that Barça had put forward, and after judges rejected various attempts from the club to have Olmo provisionally registered, Olmo was taken off the league's official players list.

The move is especially significant as competition rules stipulate that no player can be registered, de-registered, and then registered again by the same club in a single season. The club will put forward further legal appeals, this time to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, to let their star signing play.

Olmo could now potentially leave FC Barcelona for free and sign for another club, if he wishes.

Groups in opposition to Laporta's presidency have spoken out against the management of the cases of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, another played in the same situation as Olmo, and the non-signing of basketball player Thomas Heurtel.

They have also criticized the lack of dialogue with the ultras groups who had been left out of the stadium over a dispute over €21,000 in fines, as well as the selling off of future TV rights earnings.

In the statement they demand that if the president does not resign, he should then submit to a binding vote of confidence.

As a third option, they do not rule out putting together a motion of no confidence.
