Luis Suárez to join Barça training on Friday after the CAS nuance the FIFA sanction

Luis Suárez will be able to train with FC Barcelona after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) nuanced the sanction imposed by FIFA. After the Uruguayan bit another player in the last World Cup, FIFA sanctioned Suárez with a severe 4-month ban from participating in any activity related to football, including training and press conferences. In addition, he was banned from playing 9 official matches with Uruguay's national team. Barcelona (FCB).- Following the announcement of the verdict by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the appeal against the sanction imposed on Luis Suárez by FIFA, FC Barcelona announced that the player will join the first team’s training session, scheduled for Friday at 9.30 AM CET in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Likewise, the public presentation of Suárez as a new FC Barcelona player will be held on Monday at the Camp Nou, on the occasion of the Joan Gamper Trophy match.


After the Uruguayan bit another player in the last World Cup, FIFA sanctioned Suárez with 4 months without being able to play any match but also without being able to participate in any event related to football, such as his presentation event as the new FC Barcelona player or training with his new team mates. In addition, he was also prevented from playing with his national team in 9 official matches, a sanction which represents not playing for Uruguay for almost 2 years.

FC Barcelona and Suárez appealed FIFA's sanction to the CAS, in coordination with lawyers from the Uruguayan team. This Thursday afternoon, the CAS issued its firm decision on the matter, nuancing the FIFA ban but keeping Suárez out of official matches for 4 months at club level and for 9 matches at international level. The first day Suaréz will be allowed to play with Barça will be in the first clasico of the season, the Spanish League match against Real Madrid.
