Hansi Flick officially named FC Barcelona's new head coach
German manager signs two-year deal with Barça following Xavi Hernández's dismissal
FC Barcelona has confirmed the appointment of Hansi Flick as its new head coach.
The German manager will be Barça's head coach for two years, until June 30, 2026.
Flick signed the contract at the Catalan club's offices on Wednesday in a ceremony attended by the club's president Joan Laporta.
"The philosophy they have is similar to mine. Possession and technical football are things I love. So yeah, we'll work on that," he said.
Hans Flick was sacked as Germany's national team coach in September. Previously, he was the head coach of Bayern Munich for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons.
During his time in charge, Flick won a Champions League title, a Club World Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and two Bundesliga championships.
Flick's appointment comes a few days after Barça sacked Xavi Hernández, after several u-turns in the last months, where he announced his plan to step down and then backtracked on his words.
The Catalan club thanked Xavi and his team for their "commitment, dedication and generosity, as well as for facilitating the contractual separation".
