The construction works on FC Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium appear to have been hit by another delay, pushing back the club's return to their iconic home some months further.

Local media outlet Betevé now report that Barça won't return to their stadium until some time around November 2025

This would mean that Hansi Flick's charges won't play a game at the Camp Nou this season at all.

Yet, the club's official line is that they maintain intention to play a game at their famous home ground before the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

In fact, FC Barcelona have denied the Betevé reports are true, and insist that their intention is to play a game in the Camp Nou before the end of this current season.

The Catalan club had initially hoped to return to the Camp Nou before the end of the calendar year 2024, and had even announced details of season ticket for the remainder of the campaign, intended to be played at Camp Nou.

In any large-scale construction project, delays and deadlines pushed back are common. Works are advancing well, but not at the pace initially planned.

As such, Betevé reports that some Camp Nou service providers have already been notified that their usual activity at the stadium will not start until November 2025. The club deny that this is true, and say their intention is to return to the Camp Nou before the end of the season.

Also this week, sports daily Sport reported that one of the main reasons preventing the timely return to the Camp Nou is the delay in the construction of the VIP areas, commissioned to external companies other than primary construction company Limak, which will need at least three more months to complete the works.

Elsewhere, online sports outlet Relevo say Barça will not be able to have the fire plan in place by this season, which is a requirement of the Fire Department to guarantee safety in the event of an emergency.

In January, the club renewed their lease on the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc until the end of the 2024/25 season.
