FC Barcelona Women headed to fourth Champions League final after defeating Chelsea
72,262 witness 1-1 draw in second leg at Camp Nou stadium
FC Barcelona Femení is headed to its fourth UEFA Women's Champions League final in five years after defeating Chelsea 2-1 on aggregate.
The second leg saw the teams tie 1-1 at the Catalan capital's Camp Nou stadium Thursday evening, attracting 72,262 people and making for a very festive atmosphere at the third-most attended match in the competition's history.
The Catalan team dominated possession throughout the game - 55% versus Chelsea's 45% - with few, however, shots on target: two, one less than the English side.
It was not until minute 63 of the match that Norwegian player Caroline Graham Hansen scored for Barça, but only four minutes later Chelsea's Guro Reiten, who is also from Norway, tied the game.
Barça will face off against the winner of the Wolfsburg-Arsenal semi-final in Eindhoven on June 3.
Alexia Putellas back on bench
Two-time Ballon d'Or and FIFA The Best winner Alexia Putellas was able to return to the bench after missing out on most of the season due to an ACL injury.
Although the player did not make it out on the field, this did not stop legions of fans from roaring "Alexia! Alexia! Alexia" in support before, during, and after the match.
