(Barcelona) CNA.- FC Barcelona Alusport has won the Liga after beating El Pozo Murcia (3-6). El Pozo took charge until the final minutes of the game when Barça then tied. In the 5 minutes of extra time, the blaugrana team demonstrated its best side and scored the winning goals. The stars of the game were Sergio Lozano, Wilde and Javi Rodríguez, who each scored twice. It was Rodríguez's last game and certainly ended his career with the team on a high note.
Traditionally El Pozo Murcia, FC Barcelona Alusport's opponents in the finals have been the best Spanish futsal team. They have only missed one Futsat National League final in the last 10 years, of which they have won 5. It also had the best strikers in the championship. On the one hand Esquerdinha was the player that had scored the most number of goals in the regular season (45) while, on the other hand, Alex was the best striker in the playoffs with 9 goals.
The finals started with a very positive result for FC Barcelona Alusport. They won (3-5) the first game of the series as the visitor team in the Sports Hall of Murcia. El Pozo hadn’t lost any game as a local team since the 20th of May 2011. Moreover, out of 17 games played between these two teams at the Sports Hall of Murcia, Barça had only tied one of them and lost the others. However, the second game was another story. El Pozo Murcia humiliated the Catalans with a resounding triumph in Barcelona (1-6).
The third game of the series was for Barça (4-1) with 2 goals and another exhibition by the “animal” Lozano. FC Barcelona Alusport only had to win another game to become Liga champions. However the fourth game was for El Pozo (5-4). Finally, Barça broken the tie in the final game and conquered the Liga.
European champions
On the 29th of April FC Barcelona won the first championship of the season. It was the UEFA Futsal Cup, the equivalent of the Champions League for futsal. The blaugrana team hosted the Final Four of the competition, which they decided to bring to Lleida, the most important town in western Catalonia. This was a great success as an important factor of FC Barcelona Alusport’s triumph was the support of the public. The atmosphere at Lleida Barris Nord sports hall was even better than playing at home.
The four teams that took part in that edition of the finals were Marca Futsal (from Italy), Sporting Lisbon (Portugal), Dinamo Moscow (Russia) and FC Barcelona Alusport. Barça played against Sporting Lisbon in the semi-finals and they won without difficulties (5-1).
The final against Dinamo Moscow was another story. The match had great intensity from the beginning. FC Barcelona Alusport Wilde started scoring in the first minute. In the second half Barça got closer to the trophy with a goal by Lin. As time was running out and the scoreboard did not change Dinamo’s coach Tino Pérez decided to take a risk playing with an attacking goalkeeper. This lead to the first Russian goal but on the next move Barcelona’s Jordi Torras scored the definitive 3-1. For the first time, FC Barcelona was on top of European futsal.
Kings of King’s cup
Half a month after touching the sky in Lleida, FC Barcelona Alusport won the King’s Cup for the second consecutive year. It was in a match against El Pozo Murcia that took place on the 15th of May. A very intense Murcia started scoring but the blaugrana team was able to spin the result through goals scored by Javi Rodríguez and Saad. FC Barcelona Alusport maintained their advantage in the scoreboard until the end of the game, which finished 6-3. This was the second trophy of the year for the team coached by Marc Carmona.
Keys of the success
First of all, one of the most important keys of success of FC Barcelona Alusport is the team block. Barça possesses some outstanding players for their capability to turn up in the most important moments. Lozano, Wilde and Jordi Torras have this special skill. Secondly, FC Barcelona Alusport’s coach Marc Carmona led the way to victory. He arrived on the team 6 seasons ago, when the current FC Barcelona Alusport was still a project. Throughout these years he has created an almost perfect team, strategically speaking.
