FC Barcelona will play at Olympic Stadium until season ends

FC Barcelona has officially announced that all remaining games of the ongoing season will be played at the city's Olympic Stadium.

In an email sent to club members, the team informs that the remaining La Liga and UEFA Champion League games of the male team this season will be played at the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys.

The extension at the city's Olympic Stadium means that the return to the Spotify Camp Nou has been, once again, delayed. The Catalan club had initially hoped to return to Camp Nou before the end of the calendar year 2024 and had even announced details of season tickets for the remainder of the campaign, intended to be played at Camp Nou. 

According to several local media outlets, the reasons behind the delay in Camp Nou construction at the moment are a lack of construction materials and weather episodes, both the ongoing drought and recent rain.

Hansi Flick's team still has seven La Liga games to play at the Olympic Stadium this season, the second leg of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, and a semi-final match if the squad makes it.

Earlier in March, local media outlets reported that another delay had affected the construction works, pushing back the club's return to its iconic home some months.

At the time, reports said that Barça would not return to their stadium until some time around November 2025. Yet, the club quickly said that they maintained their intention to play a game at their famous home ground before the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

In fact, the team released some photos after installing 39,000 blue and maroon colored seats to assure that construction works were on track.

In January, the club renewed its lease on the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc until the end of the 2024/25 season after canceling a non-confirmed concert. Sources had said that the Rolling Stones were expected to play in Barcelona in May, but the gig was canceled before being announced.
