Barcelona will host the start of the 2025 La Vuelta women's cycling race, which will take place from May 4-10.

The Catalan capital will mark the official start of the third edition of the race, following previous starts in Torrevieja and Valencia.

Just two years after hosting the opening stage of La Vuelta 23, Barcelona's streets will once again become the epicenter of world cycling.

Mayor Jaume Collboni emphasized that hosting the race "strengthens Barcelona's role as a promoter of women's sport and reinforces the city's commitment to promoting cycling among its residents."

The city has made significant investments in major sporting events, most recently hosting the America's Cup.

In addition, Barcelona will host the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2026, the first time the city has hosted the prestigious event.

Barcelona has considerable potential in the cycling sector, as the province is home to one in four Spanish companies related to the industry.

It also has the highest number of specialized bicycle shops in Spain and leads the country in annual bicycle sales.
