Wolf attack confirmed on Castell de Mur sheep flock
Authorities started monitoring the area and notified local farmers

Authorities have confirmed a wolf attack in Pallars Jussà, a rural area northwest of Barcelona, close to Castell de Mur. The attack was verified through a necropsy performed on the dead animals.
The wolf's attack, which took place ten days ago, resulted in the deaths of four sheep. This is the first confirmed case this year in the region and marks the return of the wolf to the southern Pallars Jussà after decades of absence.
The incident has put local farmers on high alert, with shepherds like Jordi Navarra, the mayor of Sant Esteve de la Sarga, posting on social media: ''It’s tough, but this is the future that awaits us.''
Following the attack, monitoring efforts in the area were initiated, communication protocols were activated, and the livestock farms at risk if further damage were notified. Rural agents have already visited livestock farms in Pallars to access vulnerabilities, provide guidance to farmers, and explain the ongoing monitoring efforts in the region.
