Where to celebrate Catalan National Day abroad
Government delegations in 19 countries will organize cultural and gastronomic activities
September 11 is an important date in Catalan history, as it marks the fall of Barcelona in 1714 during the War of the Spanish Succession and the loss of sovereignty of the territory.
Every year, commemorative activities are held in Catalonia and abroad on Wednesday, September 11 and in the days leading up to the anniversary.
The Catalan government delegations abroad organize many activities in the 19 countries of the world they represent.
The activities include music and gastronomy, but also castellers human towers performances, theater shows, exhibitions and much more.
Here is a list of all the activities taking place abroad to celebrate it.
To celebrate Catalonia's National Day, there will be an institutional reception for Catalan residents in Benelux, as well as a concert by the Catalan duo Alosa.

To bring the Catalan culture closer to Germany, the Catalan government delegation organizes an institutional reception and a concert by Francesc Ribera (Titot) and David Rossell.

The Delegation in Andorra is organizing a conference about forest wildfires, in order to approach a topic that affects both Catalonia and Andorra.

The Delegation to Brazil is organizing two events in order to celebrate Catalonia's National Day in São Paulo.
A conference called "Literature, dictatorship and democracy, in Catalonia and South America".

An exhibition to highlight the power of women in sports and of Argentinian sports women will be open to the public from September 9 to 13.

Where: Legislatura de la Ciutat Autònoma de Buenos Aires.
In addition, there will also be a mapping on the facade of the Casal de Catalunya. The mapping will show the relationships between Catalonia and Argentina, and the role that immigration has played in the link of these to places.

The events and activities organized in northern America to celebrate Catalonia's National Day are distributed in various cities and days.
In Montreal, an institutional reception will see people from institutions, the economic ambience and the cultural world in Quebec. There will also be a concert by the Quebecois singer Valérie Gagné, who will interpret songs by Catalan singers Marina Rossell and Maria del Mar Bonet.

In Washington, an immersive audio-visual installation on Catalonia and the arts will be created by audiovisual artists Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger. Violinist Mireia Clua will play musical pieces created for the occasion, and actress Maria Fontanals will read Catalan literary texts. The event will include wine and cava tasting. The same event will take place the following day in New York.

Central Europe will host two events in two cities: a Catalan cuisine event in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and a concert with food and wine tasting in Vienna.

After the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Catalan delegation in France will invite the Catalan artistic swimmer and bronze medal winner in the Games, Paula Ramírez, to talk about sport with the journalist Laia Forès. On the Catalan National Day, there will be an institutional reception with a concrete by the Catalan singer Mar Pujol, presenting her first album Cançons de rebost.

Where: Both events are held in Paris. The first at Molitor pools (6 avenue de la Porte Molitor) and the second at the Delegation on 50 rue Saint-Ferdinand.
There will be a musical concert by the duo formed by Meritxell Gené and guitarist Txabi Àbrego.

In Japan, there will be a concert featuring Barcelona-born violinist Adriana Alcaide and the Japanese traditional music group Soubugen.
Guests will be offered a cocktail after the event. Doors open 30 minutes before the concert.

The Government Delegation in North Africa celebrates the National Day with an institutional reception followed by a concert with Pep Sala and Simone Lambregts.

In Lisbon, there will be an institutional event for the Catalan community in Portugal, with a concert by the Catalan singer Gemma Humet.

An institutional reception will be held in London to celebrate the anniversary. The band Periscopi Invertit will perform folk songs from the Catalan-speaking region.

On the occasion of the Catalan National Day, a literary conference will be held in Geneva under the title Commitment and solidarity: Swiss Aid in Times of War (1936 - 1945). This will be followed by an institutional event.

In Zagreb, there will be an institutional reception and a performance of the play A Concert at the White House. The play recreates the conversation between Pau Casals and John Fitzgerald Kennedy before the concert the musician gave at the residence of the President of the United States in 1961. The text was written by journalist, producer and film professor Jordi Roigé and directed by Llorenç Rafecas. The actors are Mingo Ràfols, Roc Esquius and Mercè Pons.
