What are the richest towns in Catalonia?
Annual report from Spain’s National Statistics Institute ranks the municipalities with the highest and lowest incomes
The richest towns of Catalonia have been revealed in Spain’s National Statistics Institute once again.
The report ranks the towns with populations of at least 20,000 based on the average income per capita in the year 2018, the most recent year for which such data is available.
Fourteen Catalan municipalities make it into the top 50 rankings of all of Spain.
Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Quirze del Vallès, and Sitges make up the top three wealthiest Catalan towns according to the report.
According to the average income per capita in 2018, these are the top ten richest towns in Catalonia:
Sant Cugat del Vallès: €20,582
Sant Quirze del Vallès: €18,163
Sitges: €17,323
Castelldefels: €17,148
Barcelona: €16,386
Vilassar de Mar: €16,348
Esplugues de Llobregat: €16,010
El Masnou: €15,867
Sant Joan Despí: €15,189
Molins de Rei: €15,057
Cerdanyola del Vallès: €14,973
Sant Feliu de Llobregat: €14,482
Castellar del Vallès: €14,202
Gavà: €14,038
The same report also lists the fifteen richest neighbourhoods in all of Spain, all of which are located in Madrid or Barcelona. Four of the neighbourhoods are in the Catalan capital: Pedralbes (€33,501), Sant Gervasi- Galvany (€33,012), Les Tres Torres (€32,179), and Sant Gervasi- la Bonanova (€27,709).
The five richest municipalities in all of Spain are Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid, €28,326), Boadilla del Monte (Madrid, €21,795), Sant Cugat del Vallès (Catalonia, €20,582), Torrelodones (Madrid, €20,225), Majadahonda (Madrid, €20,220).
