The Ukrainian community in Barcelona is calling for widespread participation in Sunday's demonstration in the Catalan capital to show "empathy, solidarity and European support," to mark the third anniversary of the Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The demonstration is will take place this Sunday in Barcelona at 4 pm, starting on Passeig de Gràcia and ending in Plaça de Catalunya at 5 pm.

The anniversary of the full-scale invasion comes in the midst of a crisis moment, after the "180-degree turn" by US President Donald Trump regarding the conflict, Ukrainian journalist Sasha Molotkova noted.

They believe they are "losing support" from the United States and, in the face of Trump's "escalation in speech," the Ukrainian community in Barcelona has come out in defense of President Volodymyr Zelensky because "he is protecting the country."

"Later we will solve the internal problems we have, but now what is important is to save the country," Molotkova said.

In a press conference from the European Parliament office in Barcelona, Yuliya Dovgopola, representing the groups organizing the demonstration, warned that they would continue "until victory" and stressed that the demonstrations are important to give "visibility" to the conflict.

"Ukraine cannot be left alone in the situation it is in now," activist Karina Feka argued.

Catalan activist Carlos González called on the citizens of Barcelona to "wake up." "This is an entire community that is being massacred by a country that is acting in a terrorist manner," he insisted, warning that "the fire could spread" to other parts of Europe.

Molotkova, who in addition to being a journalist is also a professor at the Abat Oliba CEU University, said that Trump lives "in his disinformation bubble" and displays a tone that is "hardening every day."

According to the journalist, the US president's actions indicate that he "does not have the real tools to reach any agreement."
