The three people who were arrested on Friday evening for kidnapping two others in Barcelona have been jailed on remand with no bail, as was reported by the Catalan High Court (TSJC) on Sunday.

They have been charged with illegally detaining two people, a man and a woman of Asian origin, and extorting them.

Kidnapping in Sant Gervasi-Galvany

Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police broke into a Barcelona apartment on Friday evening not long after 8:15 pm to free two people who were being held against their will.

The officers forced their way into the building on Carrer d'Amigó street in the city's Sant Gervasi-Galvany neighborhood after hours of unsuccessful talks with the captors, arresting three people.

Police sources explained that they had received a call shortly before 5:15 pm alerting them to the fact that someone was being held hostage.

After going to the apartment in question they were able to confirm the veracity of the information and more officers, including some from the Mossos' Special Intervention Group (GEI) and negotiators from the Kidnapping and Extortion Unit, were sent to the site.
