Taxi drivers in Barcelona to strike next Tuesday from 6am to 6pm
Protesters will stop service to protest insurance company 'abuses' and low tariffs
Taxi drivers in Barcelona will go on strike next Tuesday, June 18, from 6 am to 6 pm.
The sector is protesting against the "abuses" of the insurance companies and is asking the Spanish government to intervene "immediately".
Drivers are also asking the Metropolitan Institute of the Taxi to implement "dignified" tariffs. They blame ride-hailing services (VTC) for their low wages.
Taxi unions have also warned that this will be the first of many protests, including "blockades" at the port and airport of Barcelona, as well as at the Sants train station.
The protest has been called by the unions Élite Taxi, Anget, STAC, ATC and Paktaxi.
