Spanish Guardia Civil police officers are searching the cars of the employees of a print shop in the Catalan town of Constantí, near Tarragona, apparently looking for material — such as the list of voters — related to the independence referendum to be held on October 1. The police operation started Wednesday afternoon and it was still underway Thursday morning.

The company, Indufraf Offset, may be printing the list of citizens who will be eligible to vote in the referendum, according to recent news reports. However, the company denied the story and told ACN that the information “is not true.”

So far, Guardia Civil police officers have only searched cars and have not entered any buildings. They might be waiting for a warrant that allows them to proceed with the search inside the company’s offices.
