The repeats of the civil service entrance examinations went ahead normally on Saturday, following the "chaos" seen in the first attempt in April that led to thousands of complaints from applicants.

Presidency minister Laura Vilagrà described the day of exams as "impeccable" and thanked the "extraordinary effort" of all the staff who made it possible.

Vilagrà wanted to turn to a new chapter after the logistical failures of the past examinations, which the government blamed on the company it outsourced the management of the examinations to

The situation in April was so bad that the government dismissed civil service director general Marta Martorell Camps over the situation.

Participation in the exams was at 62%, while in the case of the process for teachers, it was around 75%. Nearly 40,000 people showed up for the exams throughout Catalonia, of which more than 36,000 went for positions in the department of education.
