A judge in the southern city of Tarragona sent the alleged murderer of two people in a shooting in Salou to provisional prison without bail on Saturday .

The detainee faces two murders charges, as well as being accused of owning weapons and ammunition, theft and use of a stolen vehicle, and forgery of official documents.

He testified in court amid a heavy police presence, which included a helicopter.

The investigation is ongoing, and Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police are looking for two more men who fled the scene but could be related to Wednesday night's shooting.

One of the victims was initially seriously injured and died on Thursday.

The incident took place shortly before 11 pm in the coastal resort town of Salou in southern Catalonia, in the area of Plaça de les Palmeres.

The alleged perpetrators fled in a French registered car that the police intercepted at 11.10 pm on the AP-7 highway in the Mèdol area .

Several weapons were found inside the car, and police are not ruling out that the matter is related to drug trafficking.
