Prosecutors file complaint against Barcelona care home where eight died of salmonella
Authorities say those responsible did not notify the cases to the Public Health Agency
The Barcelona Public Prosecutor's Office has filed a complaint against the director of a care home in the city where eight residents died of salmonella.
Three other people have also been included in the complaint, as reported by newspaper El Periódico and confirmed by the Catalan News Agency.
A court has accepted the complaint, also directed against the management company, and the case will be investigated.
The prosecutor's text says that there was an outbreak of salmonella in the residence that affected 39 people since July 2022; 15 of whom were hospitalized and 8 of whom died.
Authorities also say that the accused did not notify any of the cases to the Barcelona Public Health Agency, so the investigation process "was hindered" and the consequences of the outbreak "aggravated."
