Private pool rentals soar in Catalonia with bookings tripling in a year

The rental of private swimming pools by the hour in Catalonia is on the rise, according to data from Cocopool, a company that connects private pool owners with users who want to rent them for short periods. 

According to the platform, there have been 703 bookings this year as of July 30, almost three times as many as last year. 

"There are days when we can't keep up," says Cocopool's CEO, adding that expectations are "really good." 

The average booking consists of a group of 12 people paying between €20 and €30 per person per day. 

Most bookings, around 80%, are for birthday parties. Another 10% are for baby showers or team-building activities. 

The company currently offers 350 pools throughout Spain and is growing "every day, with more pool owners interested in hosting."

The Barcelona area has the highest concentration of pools on Cocopool, with towns such as Sant Cugat del Vallès, Torrelles de Llobregat, Pallejà and Vallromanes among the most popular. 

Some listings include additional amenities, such as barbecue areas or table tennis, at an additional cost of €25.
