40-year-old faces charges for crimes of homicide and illegal possession of arms
A judge in the city of Vic, in central Catalonia, sent to prison without bail the alleged murderer of a 15-year-old, who was shot dead on Monday in the town of Sant Hipòlit de Voltregà.
The court, as the Catalan News Agency (ACN) reported on Thursday, ordered the prisoner to be sent to Brians 1 prison. The 40-year-old faces charges for the crimes of homicide and illegal possession of firearms.
House search
Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police searched the home of the alleged murderer on Tuesday after he was arrested on Monday.
The detainee was present with Mossos d'Esquadra officers at the address when the 2.5-hour search began around 9 am on Tuesday morning.
The police and the detainee then went to a warehouse in Manlleu after the search of the home before bringing the alleged murderer to the Vic police station.
In fact, the house search took place the day after the alleged murderer fled the crime scene and sought refuge in a forest near Sant Hipòlit until the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested him at around 1 pm "with no violence."
The Mossos sent drones, helicopters and officers specialized in high-risk situations (GEI units).
Victim injured
The victim was found injured in a street at around 5 am on Monday, but the medical emergency services were unable to save his life.
Sant Hipòlit's mayor, Gerard Sancho, told the press that they are "backing" the victim's family. While several neighbors said that the alleged murderer was "conflictive" and had criminal records. "He was very problematic, he is always involved in brawls."
