Police rescue injured flamingo on AP-7 highway
Bird transferred to wildlife recovery center
An injured and disoriented flamingo was rescued on the AP-7 highway near the municipality of Freginals, in the Montsià county, in southern Catalonia.
The Spanish police Guardia Civil received a call reporting the presence of a bird the past October 28.
A patrol started searching the area and found the flamingo on the side of the road trying to fly.
The police decided to capture the animal after evaluating the risks for the bird and the road in the midst of heavy rains.
The captured flamingo was taken to a wildlife recovery center in the natural park of the Ebre delta, where it will receive treatment and be rehabilitated for release back into the wild.
