Police detain man over woman's violent death in Salou hotel
Mossos d'Esquadra police officers found woman's body lying on floor
Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police have detained a man over the violent death of a woman in a hotel in the southern seaside town of Salou. Officials do not rule out a romantic relationship between the man and the victim.
Law enforcement agents received an emergency call late on Sunday evening at around 9:30pm, saying that a woman in the hotel was seriously injured. Both are European foreigners, the Catalan News Agency (ACN) was able to confirm.
Once on site, Mossos found the woman lying on the floor, with a self-injured man next to her. Catalan emergency services unsuccessfully tried to revive the woman.
Because of the man's injury, Mossos took him to Tarragona's Joan XXIII hospital on Sunday, before swearing testimony in court on Monday.
