Police arrest man after woman found dead in northern Catalonia
Mossos d'Esquadra do not rule out victim of gender-based crime committed in La Pobla de Segur
Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police have arrested a man in La Pobla de Segur, in northern Catalonia, after a woman was found dead in the municipality.
Law enforcement officials do not rule out that the woman was a victim of gender-based crime.
The man was arrested on Thursday after police were warned of the victim's disappearance, even though there had not been any missing person report filed.
Police investigators considered there was an act of criminality behind the disappearance, and days after, they found the remains of a body hidden in the soil of a vegetable patch in the municipality of Conca de Dalt.
The body is still pending final identification; forensic results are still expected.
Meanwhile, the arrested will testify to the court in the upcoming hours.
A criminal investigation has begun.
