54% of Catalans wish to limit rental housing platform Airbnb
More than half of Barcelona residents believe that the city cannot welcome more visitors, as 56% say that the Catalan capital has reached its maximum capacity for tourists, according to the CEO, a Catalan-government-owned survey agency, on Thursday.
On a lower note, 35% of Catalan residents —which includes Barcelona's population—, share the feeling and believe there is no more room for travelers in the territory.
When asked if there should be any tourism promotion, 61% of Barcelona residents believe so.
Over 80% of the population believe that tourism has a good or a very good impact on society.
On the other hand, one of the main platforms tourists use to book accommodation is Airbnb, which 54% of Catalans believe should be limited.
