In 2024, 26% of all evictions recorded in Spain took place in Catalonia, according to the latest data released by Spain’s judicial authorities, the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

This means that almost one in four evictions last year occurred in Catalonia, followed by Andalusia with 4,027 evictions, Valencia with 3,610, and Madrid with 2,375.

In total, 27,564 evictions were registered in Spain in 2024.

According to the CGPJ, 74,6% of all evictions statewide were the result of proceedings linked to the Urban Rental Law (LAU), with Catalonia once again leading the statistics with 5,539.

Meanwhile, 18.4% of evictions were the result of mortgage foreclosures, and the remaining 7% were attributed to “other reasons."

At a state level, evictions related to mortgage foreclosures rose by 18.3%, reversing a downward trend since 2022.
