New 'certificate of self-responsibility' for journeys from Monday
Catalan interior minister introduces measure to quickly identify reason people are not home
Starting on Monday, Catalonia will introduce a "certificate of self-responsibility" for journeys starting on Monday, as was announced by Catalan interior minister Miquel Buch.
The document, which can be downloaded and filled out online, is similar to one already in use in France and intends to facilitate the job of police officers who must enforce lockdown orders due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, which only allow people to leave home for work, to buy food, or seek medical assistance.
Buch said use of the certificate was "advisable" but not "obligatory."
Fines for leaving home for unjustified reasons are between 100 and 600,000 euros.
