More than two million international tourists visit Catalonia in September
Average daily spending decreased to €217 per person
Catalonia welcomed 2,033,263 international tourists during the month of September, according to Spain's National Statistics Institute.
That represents a 1.06% increase from the same period in 2019, and a 11.8% increase from 2023.
This is the highest number of tourists Catalonia has seen in September since the National Statistics Institute has records.
Each tourist spent an average of €217 per day, which is 2.27% less than the average last year.
The average stay was 5.60 days, while a year ago that number was slightly lower (5.28 days). Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the average was 6.05 days.
Catalonia is the second most visited region in Spain after the Balearic Islands, as it was in the month of August.
