Man arrested on AP-7 highway with body of dead woman in trunk of car

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 43-year-old man in Constantí, in southern Catalonia, in connection with the violent death of a woman.

The events took place on Friday at 6:12 pm when a patrol unit providing police support to a crane on the AP-7 highway near Tarragona observed a vehicle stop and the driver and sole occupant get out.

The man then told the officers that he was carrying the lifeless body of a woman in the trunk.

The police checked it out and arrested him as a suspected perpetrator of a homicide.

The Mossos are investigating the relationship between the detainee and the victim and the place where the crime was committed.

The Criminal Investigation Division of Tarragona has taken charge of the case, which is under secrecy of proceedings.
