Israeli community holds memorial event in Barcelona
Prayer service at Maimonides Synagogue for victims of Hamas attack
The Israeli Community of Barcelona (CIB) held an event on Tuesday evening in support of the people of Israel and the victims and hostages of the Hamas attack.
A service was held at Maimonides Synagogue "in memory of the victims of the murder and kidnapping of Jewish people from the Gaza Strip."
Prayers were offered "both in memory of the fallen and for the safe release of hostages, especially women and children."
Permanently assessing risk
Catalonia's interior minister, Joan Ignasi Elena, confirmed on Tuesday that police had increased security around places related to Israel and Palestine.
The government is "permanently assessing the risk of anti-terrorist fighting and when this risk increases, security is also strengthened in schools, consulates and companies."
As determined by Spain's Intelligence Center for Counterterrorism and Organized Crime, the current anti-terrorist alert level remains at 4 throughout Spain, Elena added.
