Firefighters controlled a fire that had been burning since 2 am on Friday and burned five industrial buildings that stored chemical products in Polinyà, Vallès Occidental county, just outside Barcelona.

The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has also confirmed there was no affection outside of the area, and the works are now focused on supporting the company that manages these flammable and corrosive products, as well as extinguishing the fire.

Authorities have raised the lockdown that had affected the municipalities of Polinyà and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, as well as the possibility of neighboring companies in the area to return to their activities.

"We have been able to reduce the extent of the lockdown in the area, allowing companies to return to work," Jordi Martín, head of the firefighters unit, said to journalists.
