One person died and three others were injured - one critically, one seriously and one with minor injuries - when a viewpoint under construction collapsed on Thursday in Vall de Boí, in the Pyrenees region.

The four victims were workers involved in the construction of the viewpoint and fell more than 50 meters when the structure collapsed.

The death was confirmed by the mayor of Durro, a village in Vall de Boí, on Catalunya Ràdio.

The incident occurred around 17.30 pm on the mountain known as La Roca d'Espà.

The incident is being treated as a work accident and is being investigated by Catalan police Mossos d'Esquadra.
