Flight from Atlanta to Barcelona forced to turn back due to 'diarrhea all way through airplane'
Delta pilot tells air traffic controller incident is a "biohazard issue"
Delta flight 194 from Atlanta to Barcelona took off as scheduled last Friday.
But around two hours later, it was already back on the ground in Georgia.
The reason? A passenger suffered a bout of diarrhea so severe that the pilot described it as "a biohazard issue" in an exchange with air traffic controllers.
"We've had a passenger who had diarrhea all the way through the airplane," the pilot can be heard saying in an audio clip posted by Thenewarea51 on X.
An X user named John Hurdt said that both he and his wife were on the flight.
"It was a mess. The pilots made the right decision to turn around," he wrote on the social media platform. "The ground crew ripped out the carpet and put new in."
Another X user, Dee W, said her partner was on the flight.
"It was pretty bad. It was dribbled down the aisle, smelled horrible," she wrote.
This is not the first time a plane has had to turn back due to overpowering fecal matter.
