A five-storey residency building collapsed in Badalona on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters are searching for people trapped in the building.

Three people registered as living in the building have not yet been located, according to the fire department.

The three people are from three different homes, but it is not yet confirmed whether or not they were in the building at the time of the collapse.

Firefighters expect around 24 hours of uninterrupted work to clear the debris, of which they estimate that there is between 60 and 90 cubic meters.

They have already checked all parts of the building that has not collapsed.

The building is located at 9 Canigó Street, and adjacent buildings at numbers 7 and 11 have been evacuated.

Thirteen firefighting teams have been deployed, along with five medical units and a team of psychologists.
